Indodax Achieves Rp133 trillion in Crypto Transactions Throughout 2024

Indodax, as one of the largest and most trusted crypto exchange platforms in Indonesia, recorded an extraordinary achievement in 2024 with a transaction volume that increased fourfold, reaching Rp133 trillion. This figure is the highest in the company’s operational history.

This increase in transactions was influenced by the high interest of the Indonesian people in crypto investment, which is also in line with a similar trend that is developing globally. According to Indodax CEO Oscar Darmawan, Indodax’s contribution to national crypto transactions were recorded at 20.5%, as reported by Antara News, where the total national crypto transactions reached Rp650.61 trillion.

Oscar also often conveys the importance of eliminating VAT on crypto transactions, with the hope that this policy can make domestic crypto exchanges more competitive compared to global exchanges. Oscar believes that this policy will not only encourage an increase in transaction volume but also have the potential to double the country’s tax revenues. In addition, the entry of more companies and institutions into the crypto market further strengthens the acceptance of this sector in the digital economy ecosystem.

The Indonesian government, through policies that provide legal certainty, plays an important role in creating stability in the crypto market. With the increasingly positive development trend of the crypto and blockchain industry, Oscar Darmawan remains optimistic that crypto will not only be a short-term investment instrument but also an integral part of the national digital transformation.

Indodax has served more than 7 million members since 2014, continuing to grow rapidly as a trusted crypto exchange in Indonesia. With safe and innovative services, Indodax is further strengthening its position as a leading platform, supporting the growth of the digital ecosystem and crypto investment in the country.

Jangjo Element: Waste Becomes Artwork for SCG ESG Symposium 2024

Indonesia faces a major waste problem: millions of tons of waste every year. Poor management has an impact on the environment and health. Amidst these challenges, Jangjo is here as an innovative solution to transform waste into valuable products.

One of Jangjo’s waste management approaches is using an integrated system called Jangjo Zero Waste Integrated (JOWI).

In addition, Jangjo also introduced Jangjo Element. Jangjo dedicates this unit to research and development (R&D) in waste material engineering to transform waste into products with utility value. With this approach, Jangjo hopes to accelerate the realization of more environmentally friendly and sustainable waste management solutions.

Siam Cement Group (SCG) organized Jangjo Element’s first project for the 2024 ESG Symposium, demonstrating its success. Jangjo processed 40 kg of cement sack rope waste into unique tables and totems and used other waste materials for additional components, prioritizing the principles of a sustainable circular economy.

This initiative is in line with the main objectives of the ESG Symposium 2024, which highlights three core themes: Inclusive Green Growth Initiative, Inclusive Green Business, and Inclusive Society—Growing Together. Jangjo is proud to be part of an event that highlights how collaboration between various parties and innovation can drive progress toward a more sustainable future. Jangjo expressed this sentiment in a statement on their official website.

Through projects like this, Jangjo not only provides examples of how waste can be transformed into valuable products but also shows the enormous potential of waste management into valuable products.

Indodax Launches a Free Crypto Literacy Program to Support OJK Targets.

The CEO of the INDODAX crypto exchange platform, Oscar Darmawan, stated that he has developed the Indodax Academy, a free crypto education platform designed to improve digital and financial literacy.

“Quoted from Kompas, Oscar said, ‘This step is encouraged as an effort to support the targets of Technology Innovation in the Financial Sector (ITSK) and crypto assets by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).'”

Indodax Academy offers a variety of crypto learning materials, from the basics of crypto assets and blockchain to investment and trading strategies, which can be accessed by users of various levels of understanding, from beginners to advanced. Oscar stated that you can easily access this program through the Indodax website, YouTube, or official social media.

Oscar added, “Digital and financial literacy are key to supporting the achievement of the OJK target, which projects an increase in ITSK users to 5 million people by 2028, as stated in the OJK roadmap.”

On the other hand, OJK predicts that the transaction value of this sector will experience a rapid increase, reaching IDR 1,000 trillion in 2028—more than three times the transaction value at the beginning of 2024, which was IDR 301.75 trillion.

“We believe that through solid collaboration and support from various parties, we can achieve significant progress in developing this sector and strengthen Indonesia’s position at the global level,” he concluded.

Jangjo Presents Innovative Solutions for Zero Waste

Waste accumulation is an issue that needs a sustainable solution, particularly in urban areas. Despite various efforts, the issue of waste piling at Waste Management Sites (TPS) remains unoptimized.

Founded in 2019, Jangjo is a startup that provides an integrated waste management solution, aiming to transform waste into valuable items. The company created the JOWI Integrated System technology, which promotes a circular economy by transforming waste into valuable products. Jangjo employs a decentralized system for waste management, preventing the process from centralizing at a single point. Waste will be weighed, sorted, and processed into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF), or BSF maggot feed.

Joe Hansen, CEO of Jangjo, explained, “We process plastic waste into RDF for cement factories or SRF that can be turned into wooden boards.” By implementing this system, Jangjo guarantees the removal of all residue, thereby preventing the build-up of waste that could potentially lead to disease.

Additionally, Jangjo has introduced “Jang to Material” as one of the steps to combat plastic waste. This step aims to change plastic waste into useful materials. On one occasion, Oscar Darmawan visited the Jangjo waste management site and witnessed the results, namely decking from plastic waste.

Oscar stated, “Plastic waste is the biggest problem in Indonesia and is the most widely used. This is Jangjo’s solution so that there will be no more mountains of garbage in Indonesia.”

Joe added, “This technology is safer because we have conducted extensive research and developed it based on the characteristics of waste in Indonesia.” Jangjo uses local labor in developing their technology, only importing certain spare parts.
